Minerva Journal of Women and War (ISSN 0736-718X) is a multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed scholarly journal that examines the roles of women in war and the ways that armed conflict affects women's lives. For two decades, the Minerva Center, Inc, a nonprofit, tax exempt educational foundation, published MINERVA: Quarterly Report on Women and the Military. The journal was established in 1983 by Linda Grant De Pauw, now Professor Emeritus of the George Washington University and a pioneer in the study of women's military history. Library Journal called MINERVA "the first complete magazine to cover the topic," and noted that it "fills a need in the military/women world." Since 2007, the journal has been published by McFarland under the title Minerva Journal of Women and War. Minerva has a new editorial team which builds upon its strong tradition of publishing ground-breaking articles in military history while emphasizing the study of contemporary issues from a range of disciplinary approaches, including political and international relations, sociology, anthropology, women's studies, war studies, peace studies and cultural studies. The journal will be the official publication of the Minerva Society for the Study of Women and War (MSSWW). Information on subscription options, back issues, and e-journal access may be found here. Also, for those who wish to propose an article, editorial contact information and guidelines may be found here.
