Examining Samples Online
Teaching academics are encouraged to review prospective textbooks through McFarland’s Examination Copy Program. In many cases, viewable sample chapters of popular textbooks have been made available on our website. Sample chapters may be viewed by consulting a book’s table of contents under its entry in the online catalog. Where samples are available, the appropriate chapter title may be clicked on to access the text of that chapter. The sample chapters are provided in a PDF file format, and the freely available Adobe Acrobat Reader can be used to view the samples. To examine a prospective textbook online in its entirety, contact Beth H. Cox at bcox@mcfarlandpub.com.

Examining Print Samples
Please send your requests by e-mail specifying the instructor’s name, course name, semester to be offered, expected enrollment, and the complete mailing address. Requests can also be submitted by mail or fax, preferably on department letterhead. Contact Beth H. Cox (address below). Requests should be limited to a maximum of three titles, none of which should carry a list price in excess of $100. Exam copies will be shipped with an approval invoice at a courtesy discount of 50%. If a book is adopted for course use, keep the book as your free desk copy. If the book is not adopted, you may return the book and cancel the invoice within 90 days. You may choose to keep the book for your own use by paying the invoice within 90 days.
