Yellow Rose Horrors Hutch Chapman Werewolves Vampires

McFarland has brought its 32 years of publishing experience to the graphic format. Both nonfiction and fiction manuscripts are being considered.

Guidelines for Authors and Illustrators
We're looking for high quality artwork and solid writing with a storyline aimed at an adult audience. If you have an idea for a graphic novel, you are welcome to send us an e-mail describing the overall project.

If your project is further along, we would welcome a full proposal which should include a brief storyline synopsis, five to six complete consecutive pages, an estimated page count (ideally we are looking for a page range from 125-300 pages) and a projected completion date. Projects can be black and white, grayscale, spot- and full-color, or a combination of these.

Final projects will be submitted on disk. Pages will need to be scanned at a resolution of 400-1200 pixels per inch (ppi) at 100% of the print block size of 5 3/4" x 8 11/16". We prefer images in TIFF format or other lossless file formats.

When published, the book will be 7" x 10". All projects will need to be formatted to fit the print block of 5 3/4" x 8 11/16". We can send a hard-copy template outlining the dimensions which will result in a proportionally accurate reduction, or you can download a template below to print out a hard-copy for yourself.

Templates
Letter-sized Template (8.5" x 11")
Legal-sized Template (8.5" x 14")
Tabloid-sized Template (11" x 17")
