(May 08, 09) Ron Selter has won a Sporting News-SABR Research Award for his Ballparks of the Deadball Era. The book, which last month was named the Larry Ritter Award winner, shows the extent to which major league parks of the period 1901-1919 affected the style of play.

(May 08, 09) The Fort Lauderdale, FL, Main Library is sponsoring an exhibit on the life of Roberto Clemente. Dan Zachofsky, author of the new Collecting Baseball Memorabilia: A Handbook, 2d ed., will conduct a book talk on collecting all types of memorabilia and will display Roberto Clemente baseball cards on Saturday, July 11, 2009, from noon to 2pm.
